Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar may have been killed in an attack in Gaza. This is announced by Israel’s military, the IDF, on Thursday.
However, it has not yet been confirmed.
“During IDF operations in Gaza, three terrorists were eliminated. We are now checking the possibility if Yahya Sinwar was among the terrorists,” the IDF writes in a statement on X.
Hamas has yet to comment on this.
On social media, unverified pictures of what is claimed to be Sinwar’s dead body are circulating in angry crowds.
61-year-old Yahya Sinwar is Hamas’ top leader in Gaza and is being hunted by Israel. He is seen as most responsible for the attacks on October 7, 2023.
