WhatsApp has a very practical option to become invisible to your interlocutors. But we still have to find it.
Many smartphone owners have WhatsApp, which has become essential for communicating with their professional or personal entourage. The application is quite well made and allows you to easily start discussions with other users, according to pre-defined groups. WhatsApp also has a good habit of regularly keeping itself updated with new features and bug fixes.
However, WhatsApp is also sometimes a victim of its success. It’s common to regularly receive unwanted messages that you don’t necessarily want to respond to! Whether they are strangers or even friends, some users receive so many additions to spam or cold calling groups that they have to block many numbers or even uninstall the application to stop these unwanted additions. Others would like to read received messages without the senders necessarily knowing, which can lead to embarrassing situations.
Fortunately, WhatsApp has a very practical option to hide your presence from those who try to contact you or even from loved ones who are a little too intrusive or demanding about the answers to be provided. But we still have to find it! Its position changes depending on the phone you have and there are therefore two ways to hide your presence on WhatsApp without blocking your contacts.
On iPhone, simply go to the “settings” tab at the bottom of the application. Then use the “privacy” tab to access the settings that interest us, namely “online presence”. Here, check the people from whom you want to hide your online status or not. Then apply the same setting to “who can see when I’m online” using the “Same as last online” option.
By selecting the “My contacts” option, people whose number you have not entered on your phone will never see you online! A simple but effective way to become invisible to potential scammers trying to contact you. If you just don’t want to show your presence to anyone, choose the “Nobody” option.
If you have an Android smartphone, the method is almost identical. Instead of the “settings” tab, you will first have to use the three small dots present at the top of your application. These will allow you to access WhatsApp settings and the “confidentiality” tab and the “online presence” option.
