Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has for the first time agreed to a longer interview with the conservative television company Fox News, in what has been described as a not entirely risk-free move to reach out to Trump voters.
Fox anchor Bret Baier began by asking Harris how many illegal immigrants the Biden administration had allowed into the country in recent years. A question that Harris avoided giving a direct answer to.
– The point is that we have a broken immigration system that needs to be repaired, Harris replied, emphasizing that the system was also broken during Trump’s time as president.
She was asked if she still wants to give undocumented people the right to get driver’s licenses and access subsidized health care, which Baier emphasized she wanted during her 2020 presidential campaign.
– That was five years ago and I am very clear that I will follow the law, replied Harris.
Last week, Vice President Harris said in a high-profile interview that she couldn’t think of anything she herself would have wanted to do differently than President Joe Biden.
– My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency, she now assured the Fox viewers.
About Trump, she said, among other things:
– A president must be able to handle criticism without threatening to lock up those who criticize.
– He is not stable.
