Dive behind the scenes of a cult TV program thanks to this new French series in 6 episodes, available on Prime Video. We saw it, and here is our review before its release.

“What are we watching this evening?” Faced with the multitudes of programs put online each month by streaming platforms, it is increasingly difficult to make a choice. Look no further: this week, we advise you to launch this new French series, freely inspired by real events.

Created and written by Matthieu Rumani and Nicolas Slomka (Family Business), Worship tells how M6 created its new show in 4 months, Loft Storywithout knowing that it will forever redefine the contours of French television. If viewers were able to discover the “Loft” in 2001, with its emblematic candidates (Loana in the lead, but also Steevy or Jean-Edouard), the series strives to show the points of view of its creators. Alexia Laroche-Joubert, who produced the show in 2001 and inspired the character played by Anaïde Rozam, is also one of the producers of Worship.

We were able to see Worshipalso worn by César Domboy and Sami Outalbali, before its release. And even if you are not a reality TV aficionado, we recommend that you give this fast-paced and suspenseful series a chance. Written with precision and accuracy, the story of the creation of a television show is fascinating, and the journey of these characters, twisted but never one-dimensional, is thrilling.

But Worship is never complacent with its subject and does not hesitate to denounce the television monster that is Loft Storyaddressing at the same time the extended hours which destroy the employees of the production company, the generational conflicts, the low blows of one and the other, the concept of confinement which is questionable, the private and family lives impacted by the program, the unhealthy obsession that such voyeurism engenders, or the cynicism of the program’s creators, ready to do anything to attract an audience.

In the middle of this whirlwind, we find Loana, magnificently played by Marie Colomb, a naive young woman, in trouble, who desperately tries to rebel against those who manipulate her. A touching portrait, far from the often mocked bimbo of the sets.

Worship is a series of only six episodes, each lasting approximately one hour, to be seen only in streaming. It’s on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video, that you have to go to discover the explosion caused by the creation of Loft Story. It was put online on the 18th october.
