Regardless of whether you love the film or hate it: the controversial sequel dominates the pop culture discourse and poses many exciting questions about what exactly we expect from such a blockbuster. However, it’s not the only DC project currently causing a stir.

Three weeks ago, The Penguin, the very first spin-off series from the DC universe founded by The Batman, officially named Batman Epic Crime Saga carries. So far, it feels like the gangster drama is flying under the radar of many fans. This apparently changed with episode 4 at the latest.

The Penguin Episode 4 reveals the gruesome backstory of mafia affiliate Sofia Falcone

With Revenge (originally: Cent’ Anni), The Penguin delivers a 59-minute masterpiece that brings a character to the fore that doesn’t play a role in most live-action DC Comics adaptations. In the previous episodes, Sofia turned out to be a force on the streets of Gotham that should not be underestimated. The fourth episode of The Penguin delves into Sofia’s past and tells a similar story disturbing and tragic storywhich is entirely in line with the series’ greatest strength: every detail that is revealed and every decision that is made precisely hones the complexity and complexity of the characters.

With a focus on Sofia’s story of suffering and the exhausting emancipation from her family and especially her father, The Penguin delivered one of the best hours of television of the year. The episode, which currently has a rating of 9.5 out of 10 points has been praised in the highest tones.

Here’s a little hymn to Milioti’s splendid performance:

The fourth episode of The Penguin was a chilling glimpse into a broken character. Cristin Milioti delivers that Presentation of her life off as we watch her Sofia fall apart in a twisted narrative. An episode that captivated me the entire time and left me standing there with my mouth open.

Even Colin Farrell can’t keep up:

Don’t get me wrong, Colin Farrell is an absolute stunner in The Penguin, but tonight’s episode is an impeccable example of why Cristin Milioti is true star of the series is. Watching her bring to life the evolution of a woman accepting the role forced upon her by her own family was chilling.
