Decathlon bikes are being recalled following a major defect.

Decathlon is in trouble. One of its flagship products is once again the subject of a recall. In mid-September, a procedure had already been initiated on Rockrider mountain bike helmets sold during the summer. A defect in one of the parts prevented the helmet from being held securely on the head. The recall procedure is still in progress. It is once again in the field of cycling that the brand encountered a problem. This concerns, in fact, XCR UCI bikes. They are recalled throughout France, as reported Consumption reminder.

They were sold online by the brand between August 14 and September 18, 2024. Several lots of this bike from the Van Rysel brand are affected by this campaign. Five references are affected with the same model code 8772688: 4696569 XCR UCI XS, 4696570 XCR UCI S, 4698754 XCR UCI M, 4698755 XCR UCI L and 4698757 All sizes, from XS to XL, are therefore included in the list of recalled products. Barcodes can also help identify them: 3583787294185, 3583787294208, 3583787294215, 3583787294222 and 3583787294307.

This bike is a product sold at 7,500 euros on the Decathlon website. According to the latter, it is the result of a collaboration with Swiss Side, a company specializing in aerodynamics. “Each line has been designed to offer the lowest resistance to forward motion, which makes it one of the fastest time trial bikes in its category,” explains the site.

The reason for the recall is “a potential defect on one of the carbon parts of the cockpit: the basebar. This defect can lead to fragility of this specific part, which risks breaking”, according to Consumption reminder. The user may therefore risk injury following a fall caused by the breakage of this part.

If you own this type of bicycle, you must refrain from using it for your safety. Do not hesitate to go to the store or contact Decathlon after-sales service. You can get a refund or repair the device until April 10, 2025.
