If Iran launches a massive airstrike against Israel – and is also supported by Hezbollah – Israel’s air defenses could face serious problems.
This is according to several military experts that the Financial Times has spoken to. In the event of a major retaliatory attack, Israel risks having a shortage of anti-aircraft robots.
– It is only a matter of time before Israel runs out of anti-aircraft robots and must start prioritizing how they are deployed, says Ehud Eilam, former researcher at Israel’s Ministry of Defense, to the newspaper.
Already, Israel Aerospace Industries, a state-owned company that manufactures the Arrow robotic system, is said to be running triple shifts to keep production running. At the same time, experts believe that the Iran-backed Shia militia Hezbollah in Lebanon has not yet demonstrated its full capacity.
– They have only fired a tenth of their estimated launch capacity, says Assaf Orion, a former Israeli brigadier general and strategic chief of Israel’s army.
