Football: Victor Lindelöf remains on the bench despite the centre-back injury

Hear Jon Dahl Tomasson justify why he chose to substitute midfielder/wingback Niclas Eliasson instead of Victor Lindelöf when Alex Douglas was injured early in the player above.

Alex Douglas was trusted from the start for the fourth Nations League group stage match in a row since he was the star of Sweden’s squad at the last meeting. Against Estonia, he was warned early and then the next blow came for the centre-back.

He was forced off the pitch midway through the first half and limped off the pitch in Tallinn.

– I have not heard about the medical report yet. He is injured and definitely won’t play next week. But we’ll see how long he’ll be out, says national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Regardless of the severity of Douglas’ injury, he will miss the next group stage match due to suspension, two yellow cards. Sweden’s last group stage matches in the C division of the Nations League will be decided on November 16 and 19 against Slovakia and Azerbaijan.
