Janne Puhakka dead – suspected of having been murdered
According to the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat, Puhakka has been murdered.
According to the newspaper, he was shot dead in his apartment in Henttaa, in Espoo on Sunday evening. According to the newspaper, there is a good understanding of what happened at the time of Puhakka’s death.

According to the Finnish newspaper Iltalehti should the suspect for the murder be Puhakka’s 66-year-old husband.
The couple lived together in a terraced house in Henttaa, in Espoo. They must have lived there for two years.
The newspaper writes that the home is cordoned off and that the couple must have been alone at the time of the death when a dispute allegedly arose, which later led to the husband taking a gun.
The men had been a couple for more than 10 years and met when Puhakka played in the Canadian junior league in 2014, writes Iltalehti.
Janne Puhakka came out as gay
During his active career he played in clubs such as Blues and Espoo. Puhakka ended his career in 2018 after playing one year in French top league club Gap.
He was Finland’s first ice hockey player to come out as gay.

Puhakka was in the Finnish version of the TV series “The Traitors” and had made it to the finals of the program.
According to The evening paper the Finnish production company has announced that the finale, which was supposed to be broadcast on Thursday, will not be broadcast as planned.
