Olympic champion of the Tampere Athletics Association Pihla Kaivo-oja agile in the ring again with familiar skill. Kaivo-oja’s light, strong and snappy footwork and striking accuracy routinely earned him a series victory in his 50-kilogram final match at the Tammer tournament in Tampere.
Kaivo-ojja’s Sunday resistance Laura Myllymäki has improved his perimeter grip year by year. In addition to willpower, the reason for this is that Myllymäki from Oulu has repeatedly trained with TVS boxers in Tampere, Finland’s number one city for women’s boxing, in recent years.
Kaivo-oja, 21, is reachable and has good body control. Kaivo-ojta also always has a burning desire to win. That point is extremely important. And the success at the Paris Olympics (5th place) gave an added boost.
– I gave it. It was also nice to hear that my matches were followed a lot. Now let’s move on. My firm intention is to participate in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, Kaivo-oja said.
And a Finnish representative boxer cannot stay in our country for a long time. Boxing is one of those sports where there is a constant “compulsion” to get into tough international fights. Hanging out with friends doesn’t help when the boxer has clearly developed.
– I’m going to England in November, there will be both a training camp and a competition tournament, Kaivo-oja said.
Already on Friday evening, Kaivo-Oja beat all the judges’ votes from Brazil Radija Silva da Gamawhich, despite its hardness, was rattling as Kaivo-oja ruled the ring sovereignly. On Saturday, Kaivo-oja won all the judges’ votes for Norway Ahadi Lukungun.
A loss for Mäki, a win for Umar
Ex-Olympic boxer Brother Kootan in training Teresa Mäkinen won two matches of the round robin system in the tournament and lost one. On Sunday, in the rustle of the 54-kilogrammen, England’s initiative Ivy-Jane Smith was more fertile than Mäki.
Did the calves weigh like a saint, or where was the reason for the defeat in the final match?
– Between the ears, Mäkinen described.
Finland’s agile ring fox in the men’s 63.5 kg final Ismail Umar beat Germany nicely Denis Brilin.
– The guy was tough, but my movement was good, Umar summarized.
The Tammer tournament was organized for the 44th time. It was now a ranking tournament of the new World Boxing Federation, and there were a total of nine countries participating. Brazil turned out to be the best of them.
