Samsung is the world’s largest manufacturer of mobile phones in terms of the number of units sold. Every year the tech giant releases several phone models with new features and improved performance.
But not all new phones are hits – some are simply not as good or interesting as others.

Recently, more and more new Samsung mobiles have failed to meet the high demands.
For example, the Galaxy S23, Samsung’s best phone model in 2023, was not very different from its predecessor, the Galaxy S22. Likewise, this year’s model, the Galaxy S24, received no major improvements compared to the S23.
It is a similar situation for Samsung’s other products, which have gone from being some of the best on the market to now lagging behind their competitors.
This has prompted Samsung to issue an apology to customers, employees and investors, which News24 recently reported on.

Samsung users were recently met with a different message.
Last week it became clear that the latest update in Android devices, Android 15, will not come to Samsung phones until early 2025.
Most Android phones are expected to receive the update this October, but this is not the case for Samsung users.

Now comes another piece of news that may disappoint some Samsung users.
In the past few days, it was clear that the four-year-old model Galaxy Z Fold 2 stops receiving support for operating system and security updates, which also the tech site Android Police have reported on.
When the mobile was released in 2020, it cost 1,800 dollars, today equivalent to approximately 18,700 Swedish kronor, and was one of the first Samsung mobiles with two foldable screens.

Do you have the Samsung mobile phone? It can cost you dearly
Those who spent the big sum on the phone four years ago – or later – may soon be forced to buy a new mobile and thus spend even more money.
As the Galaxy Z Fold 2 no longer receives updates, it will soon be extra vulnerable to security threats – and some apps will eventually stop working when new Android updates are released.
Android Police urges Galaxy Z Fold 2 owners to consider switching phone models now due to the security risk.
“The most concerning issue here is the lack of security updates. This leaves the Galaxy Z Fold 2 vulnerable to threats. Anyone who has the phone should definitely consider upgrading to a new model to stay safe,” the site writes.

“A significant cost”
Android Police also notes that this is a move by Samsung to encourage people to spend more money and buy their latest phone models.
Furthermore, the tech site points to a problem in the mobile industry.
“The end of device support raises questions about planned obsolescence in the technology industry, where devices are retired prematurely due to a lack of software support. It forces consumers to update frequently, incurring a significant cost.”
