The upset NHL number one reservation was immediately put aside

The number one pick in the NHL summer draft, Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks has to be sidelined from real action already after his opening game.

Central striker Macklin on Celebrin has a lower-body injury and has been placed on the injured list, the Sharks announced Saturday. With being on the list, he will be out of games for at least seven days.

Celebrin, 18, had an effective NHL debut as he scored a goal and assisted on another in the Sharks’ 4-5 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.

The match was played local time on Thursday, and Celebrini was absent from Friday’s training. He already had injury problems during the preseason, and it is unknown if the recent injury stems from the training season or if Celebrini got hurt in the St. Louis game.

Local newspaper Mercury News toldthat Celebrin’s place in the first chain in Friday’s practice was a Finnish center Mikael Granlund.
