Norway’s police leadership announces that it will intensify border control due to the country’s increased terrorist threat level.
The authorities carry out checks at Norwegian borders and points of entry, but according to Dagbladet “the police do not check all passengers”.
So you don’t need to allow more time than before to cross the Norwegian border.
The Norwegian authorities will be “more precise than before” and that they will intensify the collection of information related to possible threats. The enhancement measures announced now will be valid until at least October 22, unless a decision is made earlier.
The background of the actions is the increase in the terrorist threat level announced by the Norwegian security service PST earlier in the week. According to PST, the crisis in the Middle East can be seen as an increase in the risk of attacks against Israelis and Jews.
– The purpose of enhancing temporary border control is to give the police additional tools for border control. For example, we collect more information and passenger data than before, and we get more opportunities to evict or deport certain people, the Norwegian police management Tone Vangen commented to Dagbladet.
