Hear Dejan Kulusevski comment on his celebrated effort in the 2-2 draw against Slovakia and his retention of the tie in the player above.
It is usually customary to hand over the captain’s armband when the regular captain of a team is replaced in a match. But in Sweden’s draw against Slovakia in Bratislava, the bandage remained on Dejan Kulusevski’s arm despite Victor Lindelöf being substituted.
– I really haven’t focused on it, I’m so focused on winning the match so I didn’t think about it, says Dejan Kulusevski to SVT Sport.
– I just wanted to come in and help the team, I didn’t even think about that, says Victor Lindelöf, who recently returned from a toe injury and played match minutes for the second time since the beginning of June.
Lindelöf substituted: “Difficult to get where they had some momentum”
The centre-back was replaced when there was just under half an hour left in the group stage match in the Nations League. During that time, Sweden conceded the equalizer to make the final score 2-2.
– It is always difficult to get into a match where they had some momentum. The body still feels okay and it’s nice to get a few extra minutes in the legs, says Lindelöf.
Sweden next plays Estonia in the Nations League group game, on Monday in Tallinn.
