    A suspected drunk man has hit another motorist in Säter.

    The man then tried to escape from the scene. Shortly afterwards, the man drove straight into the wall of several shops.

    The police have been on the scene and checked the man, who is in his 65s.

    He is suspected of drunk driving and contamination from the scene of a traffic accident.

  • Flame in aircraft engine – passengers evacuated

    A rescue effort is underway at Arlanda after an alarm about a flight incident, the Maritime and Air Rescue Center states.

    According to the rescue service, it was caused by a flame in an engine when the Populair plane on its way to Mariehamn took off.

    26 people are said to have been on board.

    – All passengers have been evacuated, says Luvig Sääf, commanding officer of the rescue service.

    The police are also there.

    – The hatch was closed and she was stuck there. But there was no danger, we were there and opened up. She is out and doing well, but thought it was a bit embarrassing, says the duty officer of the rescue service, Tero Pakki.

    Han Kang has stayed away from the media since this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature was announced on Thursday.

    No one, apart from the Swedish Academy, has received a comment from this year’s Nobel laureate in literature – until now.

    “I was very surprised when I first got the news about the award. When the phone call ended, I slowly regained my sense of reality and I began to feel emotional,” Han Kang writes in a statement.

    The police have received an alert about a suspected dangerous object in Södervärn in Malmö.

    The object has been found in a courtyard and the police assess that the object may be sharp.

    – We are in the process of accommodating residents. The police’s contact center will call those affected, says police spokesperson Evelina Olsson.

    How many are to be accommodated?

    – This object was found at an apartment building and there are three streets that have windows facing the courtyard. So there are probably quite a few.

    The National Bomb Squad is on its way to the scene.

    – They must examine the object and make their assessment. Only then can we say with 100 percent whether the object is dangerous or not, says Evelina Olsson.

    Update: Police say the dangerous object was pyrotechnics. The national bomb protection agency assesses the object as harmless.

  • New earthquake in Malmberget

    A new earthquake has shaken Malmberget in Gällivare municipality on Friday afternoon.

    The earthquake occurred at 1 p.m. and had a magnitude of 2.33, the mining company states LKAB.

    Barely two weeks ago, three earthquakes occurred in the malmberg mine during the same evening.

    The strongest quake then had a magnitude of 2.61 and residents testified of discomfort and dissatisfaction with the operations in the mine.

  • Man in his 30s is suspected of murdering the father of a small child

    Another person has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a father of a small child in Malmö on Monday. This is reported by P4 Malmöhus.

    The father was in his 50s and was shot through the window of the apartment where he lived with his family.

    The 30-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and is in custody.

    A 16-year-old boy has already been detained on suspicion of murder.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence in traffic, gross drunk driving and illegal driving.
