If the 2025 European Championships were played in Tampere and Helsinki, the final would be in Sweden.

Tampere is also applying for women’s football as one of the venues for the European Championships in 2025, in addition to Helsinki.
The city of Tampere said on Tuesday that it was participating in the Nordic Football Association’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final tournament application.
– Tampere is known as a city of major international events and an active promoter of equality and sustainable development. The European Women’s Football Championship would be perfect for Tampere, the mayor of Tampere Anna-Kaisa Ikonen says in a press release.
The football associations of Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark left the materials of the first application round to the European Football Association Uefa at the end of March.
Selection in December
In addition to Tampere, Helsinki, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Odense, Oslo and Trondheim are nominated as organizing cities. At least Switzerland and France have also submitted applications to host the European Championships.
The European Football Association Uefa will select the tournament organizer on December 7th.
The European Women’s Football Championship was last played in Finland in 2009. Six matches were played in Tampere, four in the opening rounds, one in the semi-finals and one in the semi-finals.
The popularity of women’s football has grown. Viewers from more than 130 countries are expected to attend the 2025 European Championship finals.
Tampere has previously hosted World Championships and European Championships in sports, the City of Tampere’s event director Perttu Pesä notes.
Head of Development of the Football Association Heidi Pihlaja says the final application will be filed in October.
If the Nordic countries get the tournament to take place, the European Championship final will be played at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, which will attract 50,000 spectators. Matches in the first rounds would be played in Tampere and Helsinki.
