5-year-old needs help playing a video game, but instead of calling his parents, he calls the police for help

If you find yourself in an unfortunate situation, you should call the police; you learn that in kindergarten. A 5-year-old has now applied his knowledge straight away.

Who is it about? A 5-year-old from Rödental (Coburg district) in Upper Franconia must have listened really carefully in kindergarten. There he and the other children were probably taught to call the police if they needed help in an unfortunate situation.

Knowing from an early age what the police are and how to contact them is certainly very useful, but you also have to learn when the right time is to call the police.

Police have to respond to a video game

Why did the boy call the police? The 5-year-old from Bavaria was apparently stuck playing a video game on his mother’s cell phone. So he probably switched from the game to the telephone function and quickly called 110 on October 7th.

He introduced himself to the emergency call center with his first name, his age and his place of residence and stated that he needed help. Using the cell phone number, the police were able to find out where the boy lived. Shortly after the call, the parents’ front door actually rang.

When police asked about the boy, he explained that he needed the officers’ help to play a video game on his mom’s phone. He wouldn’t get any further in the game and so he called 911.

The police spokesman said in an interview (via ardmediathek.de) with Bayerischer Rundfunk: “From his point of view, the little man did everything right, because he once learned in kindergarten that if there is an emergency, you have to call the police […]“

What are the consequences of the police operation? The 5-year-old and his family probably don’t have to fear any consequences from the police. It is unknown whether there were any punishments for the boy from his parents.

The police said: “The surprised parents were sensitized. The current score is unknown.” The family will certainly consider banning the 5-year-old from playing on his cell phone.

It remains to be seen whether the boy ultimately progressed in his game. In any case, this situation probably wasn’t exactly pleasant for the parents. A Swedish developer didn’t have to deal with the police at a young age, but he did have to deal with his fellow human beings: As a child he was mocked as a “fat nerd”, today 3 million people play his game on Steam, PS5 and Xbox
