Some absurd things have happened in the series The Big Bang Theory. The 4 nerds always managed to surprise the audience with silly situations. But one of the first scripts had an idea that was too absurd even for the series.
What idea is it about? Penny is one of the most important characters on The Big Bang Theory. She is the great contrast to the nerds, who are not always familiar with social norms. She is also a character with whom the topic of relationships and love is addressed in the series.
Before Penny became what we know her, there were many ideas. Like another female protagonist, but it was received negatively. One of the most absurd ideas was that Penny wasn’t human at all. She should become an android.

What was the plan? In the book The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, the author explains that Chuck Lorre had an absurd idea with one of the first scripts. She was supposed to be a robot or an android that the boys built. He probably said the following:
There was a moment where I thought maybe the female character was an android that the guys built. We wrote a test scene and had a few actors read the scene for us. And when they were halfway through the scene, I said, “Forget it!”

Lorre quickly realized that the idea was too absurd for the series. Ultimately we got the Penny we all know.
As 3DJuegos notes, the idea is suspiciously reminiscent of a comedy. In 1985, the film Weird Science was released (in Germany: LISA – The Hell of Madness). There are 2 teenagers who are the big losers at school. This leads to them creating their own woman via the computer. On IMDb, the film has a score of 6.6 out of 10 with almost 99,000 reviews.
