In July, skiing legend Gunde Svan became a grandfather for the first time.
In an Instagram video, he now shows off grandson Sixten, who gets to come along to uncle Ferry’s Timbersports training. The clip has caused many to react.
“What a proud grandfather you are, Gunde. Love shines in your eyes,” comments one person.
Together with the wife Marie61, has the former long distance star Gunde Swan62, the daughter Julia31, and the son Ferry28. This summer, Julia became a mother for the first time, to a boy who was named Sixteen.
– Gunde raised the flag in Vansbro the day he was born!, said the father Ludwig Swan (ex Holmberg), who is a ski reporter at Viaplay, to Sportbladet this summer.
Grandfather up in the day
Sixten was born on July 15 and is thus almost three months old. But even now you can see certain similarities in appearance with his grandfather Gunde. It becomes no less obvious when you see the video that Gunde and Ferry posted on their joint Instagram account, where Sixten is with them both in the timber hall on the family farm where Ferry does his training. As you know, he is an elite athlete in Timbersports.
In the clip, grandfather Gunde is seen walking around the hall with his grandson in his arms. They watch as Ferry swings an ax at a log of wood. “Small audience today!”, it says under the clip, with emphasis on “small”.
Their followers have also picked up that the boy is already very similar to his famous grandfather. Many point out the similarities in appearance by commenting on the clip.
“A “mini” Gunde, like grandpa,” writes one person.
“So like his grandfather,” writes another.
“But God, how much he is like you both,” someone thinks.
“Grandfather’s eyes,” writes a fourth.

Has a sharp name
Of course, there are also many who point out that the boy, with that name and with that legacy, has something to live up to. But parents Julia and Ludvig, on the other hand, maintain that the choice of first name has nothing to do with the former skier Sixten Jernberg to do.
– Actually not! We just think it’s a nice name, then it doesn’t hurt that there’s a ski clutch too. We’ll see if Sixten Svan becomes a new skiing king or something else entirely, Ludvig Svan said this summer.
“Sixten Svan, with that name it is given top positions in the ski tracks,” comments one person on Instagram.
“A new Swan in the ski track soon then,” writes another.
“WC Gold 2041 in the 5-mile,” writes a third.
“Cute! A future skiing star,” someone predicts.
“Sixteen – best name for someone in your family,” comments one person.

So much fun with a new generation of Svan on the ski slopes eventually. With that name, there can be nothing but success!
