Jämte is suspected of poaching moose and reselling the meat

As SVT previously told, it was at the end of September that the police received a tip that moose hunting was going on in Berg’s municipality, despite the rutting season.

The police rushed out with a helicopter and once there they discovered two men and a shot moose. Both men, who are in their 40s and 30s, respectively, were arrested and detained, suspected of serious hunting offences.

The men were arrested but later released although the suspicions remain.

– The police have seized a lot of things, for example compasses and other things, said prosecutor Tobias Kajbring to SVT.

Suspected of selling meat online

Now another report has been made regarding the man in his 40s. The classification is serious tax crime and the suspicion is that he will have sold things online without having declared VAT.

– Among other things, it will be about meat, says Per Thelin at the police in Jämtland.

That report has now been submitted to the Ecocrime Authority for further investigation.

Denies having shot the moose

The men have previously admitted that they have handled the moose, but denied having shot the moose. It is unclear how the man in his 40s reacts to reporting tax crimes.

The man in his 40s has previously been charged with weapons offences.
