The jet fuel factory in Långsele will not go away – Uniper stops the whole project

– It is a heavy announcement we have to make, said Uniper’s Swedish CEO Johan Svenningsson when he started the press conference in Sollefteå.

It was in Uniper’s group management that the decision was taken the other day. The investment in creating a factory for the production of green aviation fuel was supposed to provide many new jobs in Långsele.

– The Långselefabriken is not considered sufficiently business-friendly for us, the need for sustainable aviation fuel is not at the level we expected, says Johan Svenningsson.

Uniper recently decided to invest in the production of fossil-free ship fuel in Östersund, but according to Svenningsson, that decision is not connected with today’s announcement.

This is almost a shock announcement for Sollefteå municipality, which believed until the very end that the investment would be carried out as planned.

– It is of course a big disappointment. Despite this setback, we will continue to develop the Hamre area, says municipal councilor Johan Andersson (C).
