Anna Holmlund crashed in the Italian Innischen and “FIS” coordinator Joe Fitzgerald told to SVT how the crash happened.
– When we look at the film, it looks like she makes a mistake when she enters the roll (jump combination) which causes her to lose her balance so that she falls forward.
Joar Båtelsonsports director of the national ski cross team tells about the incident.
– It is in a part of the track that is not normally considered difficult, so it was extremely bad luck both that she fell there and how she landed.
Anna Holmlund speaks out in an interview
In an interview with News24 Anna Holmlund has spoken out about her life after the accident.
Holmlund went from being an elite athlete to being unable to do what used to be the simplest everyday things. She talks about how life has changed from when the accident was fresh, to today.
– Oh… yes, in the beginning I couldn’t do anything myself. I couldn’t dress myself, I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t do anything myself. I needed help with everything. Now I’ve learned to walk with a cane, I couldn’t do that before. I couldn’t eat before, someone had to put a fork in my mouth. So quite a lot has happened.
“It’s hard to say”
Holmlund then mentions that she hopes to one day be able to walk without a cane.
– I hope so (to be able to walk without a cane, editor’s note) but it’s hard to say, says Holmlund.
She talks about the most important lesson she has learned in light of everything that has happened, stating that she lives with the mindset that “it is what it is”.
– It may sound cliché, but it is what it is. I have my brain damage and that’s it.
“I can’t say I feel great”
If you follow Holmlund’s social media, she radiates positive energy. She notes, however, that her mood is not always good.
– I can’t say that I feel great, after all, I have a brain injury. But I always try to do things that make me feel good and things that I like.
She goes more specifically into things that make everyday life easier.
– I think running in water is great fun. I usually cycle to and from work.

Holmlund returns to “it is what it is” and comes up with alternative things she can do instead of the things she has been taught to live without.
– It is as it is. I can’t run, that’s just it, but I can run in water, so I do that instead. I can ride a bike, I can’t walk but I can ride a bike so I do that instead. You find things you can do.
What does Anna Holmlund work on today?
Anna Holmlund today has a professional life where she works at Friskis and Svettis.
– I work at Friski’s and Svetti’s. There I help with training sessions, washing, cleaning and help at the reception. Today we had a training session for heart and lung disease.
If you are to interpret posts from Holmlund’s Instagram, you can see that she also lectures.
What an incredible role model she is, Anna Holmlund!
