More reports of suspected sexual abuse at preschool in Flen

All reports relate to the same preschool where the man was employed, the municipality of Flen states at a press conference on Wednesday. Several police reports have been made, but the municipality does not want to go into how many.

– We take what has happened very seriously, says municipal manager Håkan Berggren.

Looking over routine

The preschool is open as usual and from Wednesday extra staff have been deployed, says headmaster Henrik Ljungqvist. The municipality must now review the routines.

– We will look at, for example, solo work, says Ljungqvist.

– We also want to review routines around how staff report if they see something. And develop staff skills in how to see signs.

The municipality is also considering whether there should be a requirement for preschool staff to submit extracts from the load register again after a longer leave. Today, it only needs to be done when employment begins.

Municipal manager Håkan Berggren:

– We have followed the guidelines and yet it happened. It is impossible to say anything other than that we have broken.

Denies crime

It was on Sunday that a man was arrested on probable cause on suspicion of aggravated rape against a girl at a preschool in the municipality of Flen. This after the girl’s parents filed a police report.

Prosecutor Fredrik Beijar has previously stated that the man denies the crime and has previously been unpunished.
