A new species of tailed frog was discovered in a national park in China’s Jiangxi province. The species discovered at the top of a 2,000-meter-high mountain was named ‘Fire-Bellied Salamander’.
Chinese researchers from Anhui Normal University discovered a new species of tailed frog on Huanggang Mountain, the peak of Wuyi Mountain National Park, which covers China’s Jiangxi and Fujian provinces. The new species was named ‘Fire-bellied salamander’ due to the distinctive black markings on its body and bright orange underparts.
Chinese researchers estimate that there are other unknown animals in the region.
