Safieddine was singled out as the replacement for former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
The information comes from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a video broadcast address to the people of Lebanon.
Netanyahu says in the video that Israel killed Nasrallah’s successor and “the successor’s successor” and called on citizens to “liberate themselves from Hezbollah to end the war.”
He added that Lebanon “used to be known for its tolerance, but is now a place of chaos and war, because a bunch of tyrants and terrorists destroyed it”.
