For the first time in almost 20 years, a horror film is prohibited for those under 18: some people felt unwell when they saw it

For the first time in almost 20 years a horror

Since the release of SAW III in 2006, no horror film has been banned for those under 18 in France. Until this gory film, in theaters this Wednesday.

A few weeks before Halloween, horror is taking over movie theaters. And if some people like to feel the thrill of watching horror films, others might think twice before discovering the gory horror film which arrives this week in cinemas. Because it’s been a long time since such a graphic film was released in French cinemas.

Indeed, since the release of SAW III in 2006 that no horror film had been banned for under 18s in France, until now. Generally, the ban does not affect those over 16, and only films with explicit erotic content could be prohibited for minors following a decision by the cinematographic works classification commission. It therefore took 18 years for a horror film to suffer the same fate: Terrify 3.

Third film in a gory trilogy, Terrify 3 follows the killing sprees of Art, a sadistic killer clown, who commits violent murders during the Christmas period and stalks a former victim. This horror film promises to be very graphic and bloody, in line with the second opus for which people were taken by dizziness and discomfort in the United States (banned for under 16s with a warning in France, it had “only” 70,000 entries). This third film went even further in horror: several spectators left the theater during a preview in the United Kingdom on Friday, one of them even fainted.

If the ban on under-18s is quite exceptional in France for a horror film, it greatly displeases the distributors Shadowz Film, ESC éditions and Factoris Films, who deplore that this “unexpected” choice will seriously follow the release of the film ” for an “auteur film in the purest tradition of the so-called genre slasher with perfectly grand-guignolesque and unrealistic violence”. If the classification has not scared you and you are curious to discover this feature film, know that the film is visible from October 9, on condition of being of legal age. .
