The Sudanese army is progressing in several states in parallel with the fighting it has been waging for almost two weeks in Khartoum. In the meantime, the army announced on Saturday October 5 the recapture of Moya mountain, in Sennar after several days of fierce fighting against the paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (FSR). It is a strategic place located at the crossroads of several vital roads which lead to two other states and the capital.

The operation to recapture Jebel Moya was supervised from Blue Nile State by Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabashi, deputy commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The latter then declared the start of operations in the neighboring state of Al-Jazirah.
This advance of the regular army was also announced by a press release from the Sovereign Council. It was especially spread on social networks by dozens of videos shared by sympathizers of General al-Burhan’s camp. They show soldiers on the ground with their loot: 32 armed vehicles, a dozen 122 mm cannons and ammunition.
The videos also show dozens of boxes containing medicines, synthetic drugs and amphetamines as well as documents indicating their origin: the United Arab Emirates, a country regularly accused of supporting the RSF.
For the head of army operations in Sennar, Abdelmoneem Abdelbass, the entry of his soldiers into Jabal Moya constitutes a “ defeat for the FSR » and a “ moral and material encouragement » for the army to continue « the series of his victories “.
Jabal Moya is a strategic location that helps defend the city of Kosti and the entire area surrounding it. A lock to control the roads leading to the capital through Al-Jazirah, Sennar and Blue Nile state. This capture also allows the reopening of the Sennar-Rabak road and therefore the delivery of food aid to the north.
