Armand Duplantis is awarded a medal of honor for his great achievements

Armand Duplantis won everything there was to win during the season – with the Olympic gold in Paris a clear sign of the star’s dominance.
Now the pole vaulter gets another prize.

The star Armand Duplantis awarded the Uppsala municipality’s medal of honour.
“Through extraordinary achievements, this year’s medalists have shown that Uppsala is a place where creativity, sporting success and science not only flourish, but also make a real difference,” says Klas-Herman Lundgren (S), chairman of the municipal council, in a press release.

The 24-year-old – who won gold at the indoor WC in Glasgow, EC gold in Rome, Olympic gold in Paris and also broke the world record three times – is one of five people to be awarded medals of honour.

The ceremony takes place on November 8 at Uppsala Castle. The Medal of Honor has been awarded once a year since 1947.
