Michael Brandsegg-Nygård returns to Skellefteå AIK

There was never an SHL debut for the Norwegian talent Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, before the transfer team went to North America for a pre-season with the NHL club Detroit Red Wings.

But now the Skellefteå supporters get good news. Even the NHL debut will have to wait.

The 19-year-old is being loaned back to Skellefteå, after Detroit chose to slim down its pre-season squad. The club announces this on its website.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygård broke through with a bang in the hockey Allsvenskan and Mora during the last season. 28 points in 53 games was enough to become the first Norwegian ever to be drafted in the first round, as the 15th pick.

Also Swedish Elmer Söderblom and William Wallinder is left out of Detroit’s depleted squad, and is demoted to the organization’s AHL team.
