Terminal, EU Commission approves MSC investment in HHLA

(Finance) – The European Commission ha approvedpursuant to the EU Merger Regulation, theacquisition of joint control of the German HHLAa logistics company and port terminal manager, by SAS Shipping Agencies Services (subsidiary of the Swiss giant MSC) and HGV. The transaction mainly concerns container terminal services and the port transport and logistics sector.

The Commission concluded that the proposed concentration would not raise competition concernsgiven its limited impact on competition in the markets in which the companies are active. The Commission examined the vertical and horizontal aspects of the merger and concluded that there was no risk of foreclosure or other competition concerns, due to the presence of sufficient competitors to ensure access to the affected services and ports in the North Europe.
