Football: The fence broke AIK’s streak – the nightmare opposition haunted again

It was a precious loss of points in the fight for European places for AIK. Burop filled the arena which was pretty much emptied in extra time.

– We come out and play our own football and don’t care how the other teams fared, says Häcken’s Ali Youssef to Max.

At the beginning of the second half, Simon Gustafson directly angled in 1-0 after running deep on Mikkel Rygaard’s play.

Gustafson received a yellow card for running backwards and celebrating provocatively against the AIK heel.

– We had put ourselves in a very good position after playing well for two months and must get over this disappointment. It’s an even match and we are punished hard and didn’t have enough power today, says AIK’s coach Mikkkjal Thomassen.

“Would have won the shooting league”

A little over a quarter of an hour from the end, Häcken extended the score to 2-0 after Ali Youssef hit the ball through the post from a tight angle. It was his 10th goal this season, all after the summer break.

– If I had been allowed to play from the beginning, I would have led the shooting league. He (Nikola Vasic) is lucky, he who is up there, says Youssef whose career has been slowed by cruciate ligament injuries.

Substitute John Guidetti had a great opportunity to reduce for AIK, but his rock-hard shot on the half-volley was saved by Häcken’s goalkeeper Peter Abrahamsson and no nerves ever appeared.

Kristoffer Nordfeldt’s clean sheet broke after 718 minutes – was on the way to Halmstad’s Håkan Svensson’s record of 808 minutes from 1999-2000.

Häcken now has nine wins against AIK in the last ten meetings, a huge result.
