(Finance) – “I would like to congratulate the presidency Brazilian for the excellent work in Iguaçu, which reminds us of the importance of the energy transition also for the protection of the world in which we live. A world that has changed a lot for many countries sitting around this table and which also in the energy sector is experiencing the serious consequences caused by the conflicts that we firmly condemn, at the gates of the Mediterranean and Europe”. Thus the Minister of Environment and energy security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratinduring the Plenary Session of the G20 – Energy Ministerial underway in Iguaçu.

“Italy believes in one transition fair, sustainable, safe and inclusive based on a technologically neutral approach and which takes into account security of supply. We believe in the need to involve all actors and protect the most vulnerable against energy poverty and for universal access to energy, especially in some regions of the world, starting fromAfrica – he added –. This is why we particularly appreciated the Presidency’s priorities and activities, aimed at accelerating financing dedicated to energy transitions for developing economies. And we also appreciated the specific focuses on fuels sustainable and up clean cookingwhich go in the direction of the initiatives that Italy has proposed as the G7 Presidency”.

“Today, on these issues, we have the responsibility to send a strong signal of action, inclusion and solidarity from Iguaçu. The proposal Declaration outlines a common path for the main energy producers, in line with the objectives of Paris and COP28. The Declaration confirms the strategic role of sustainable and innovative technologies”, continued the minister.

“I believe that the commitment to work together to accelerate the development of energy storage systems is of fundamental importance, so as to contribute to the global goal of tripling renewable capacity and promoting energy security. I am pleased to highlight that this commitment is in line with that adopted in Map of Venaria – he underlined –. I “Principles on just and inclusive transitions” are an important point of reference that Italy has already decided to pursue. Italy intends to contribute to the definition of the Global Coalition for Energy Planning, promoted by the Brazilian Presidency, given the importance of working side by side to guarantee access to safe, accessible, competitive and sustainable energy systems, in particular for countries most vulnerable, towards a net-zero emissions future by 2050″.

“The achievement of consent on the Declaration therefore represents an important result, after the last consensus obtained in the G20 Ministerial in Naples in 2021″, he concluded.
