Ice hockey: Timrå outclassed Modo in the rival meeting: “Almost a little teary-eyed”

The first “surströmming derby” of the season ended with a total overrun.

Modo kept up in terms of goals in one period before Timrå went from 1–0 to 3–0 in the second, and then struck three more times in the final period.

The match ended 6-0 to Timrå, who sail up to third place in the SHL table and have shown a hugely impressive form recently. In the last four games, they have four wins and 16-1 in goal difference.

Filip Hållander was the top scorer in the match and was noted for four assists.

– After the 7-1 loss away to Modo last season, it felt like we wanted to give back a little and wow what pressure there was here today. To experience matches like this is rare, he tells TV4.

– Getting everything to click in a match like this, on a packed home field on a Saturday, you can’t top that.

“Huge problem with goal shooting”

For Modo, this was the third straight loss and the team is in twelfth place out of fourteen teams in the table. Furthermore, they still haven’t scored away from home this season. Three straight away games without a goal is a new low in the SHL.

– We have huge problems with goal shooting. We are too wet going forward, says coach Mattias Karlin.

On SVT Play you can see all goals from all matches in the SHL.
