School: ANIEF launches a Class Action for the abuse of fixed-term contracts

(Finance) – Thanks to constant reports from the ANIEF unionthe European Commission ha Italy was referred to the European Court of Justice For the abuse of fixed-term contracts and the growing precariousness that characterizes the school sector. This situation represents one serious violation which affects thousands of school workers, forced for years to sign temporary contracts without guarantees of job stability.

Following this significant step, ANIEF has started a free Class Action aimed at all employees of the Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM), both teachers and ATA staff, who in the last 10 years have stipulated fixed-term contracts expiring on 30 June or 31 August, for a total period exceeding 36 months.

The objective of collective redress is to obtain justice for precarious school workersrequesting recognition of the right to compensation for damages suffered. ANIEF will also take care of preparing a formal warning to interrupt the limitation periods of the right to compensation, which could reach up to 24 months of the final salary.

Who can join: all employees of the Ministry of Education and Merit (teachers and ATA staff) who, in the last 10 years, have accumulated fixed-term contracts for a total of more than 36 months, expiring on 30 June or 31 August.
Collective appeal: the appeal will be presented to the Court of Rome as a pilot appeal, paving the way for further legal action.
What ANIEF offers: ANIEF will provide a warning to interrupt the statute of limitations and guarantee workers the right to compensation for damages suffered, up to a maximum of 24 months’ final salary.
