In 18 carat gold here is the most expensive handbag in

A model that has dethroned the famous Birkin from Hermès.

Luxury took on a whole new dimension during Paris Fashion Week. In the spotlight, a handbag stole the show. Its particularity? Entirely covered in 18-carat gold, this exceptional creation pushed the boundaries of haute couture. To unveil its spring-summer 2025 collection, on September 25, 2024, the French house Paco Rabanne, under the artistic direction of Julien Dossena, took over the Palais de Tokyo.

Faithful to its universe mixing shine and metallic pieces, the brand has once again caught the eye with a selection of sparkling pieces. But to celebrate the eleventh anniversary of the artistic director within the label, there is no question of doing things by halves. Indeed, the highlight of the fashion show lived up to all expectations, with the presentation of a handbag estimated at several hundred thousand euros.

Made from 18-carat gold, this luxury item is now the most expensive handbag in the world, eclipsing other renowned models such as the Birkin bag from Hermès. This has been designed as a true piece of goldwork, designed with the greatest respect for artisanal know-how. For its design, the brand teamed up with French jewelry craftsman Arthus Bertrand and required 200 hours of development, as well as more than 100 hours of careful manufacturing.

Every detail has been thought out with extreme precision to transform this bag into a true collector’s item. If his name was not immediately revealed, the eyes of connoisseurs were directly fixed on the latter, defying all standards in terms of luxury. Some recognized it as a revisited version of an emblematic model of the house: the 1969. This bag, already a luxury classic, has been given a new life here, in noble materials and an even more daring design. Its price? 250,000 euros.

Covered in precious metal, it echoes the legendary dress created by Paco Rabanne for Françoise Hardy in 1968. A flamboyant tribute to the legacy of Paco Rabanne, nicknamed “the metallurgist of fashion”.
