Humanitarian aid from the United States to Lebanon for more than 150 million dollars | News in brief

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the emergency aid is aimed at supporting internal refugees in Lebanon, refugees who have arrived in Lebanon, and the communities that help them.

The United States announces that it will deliver more humanitarian aid to Lebanon worth nearly 157 million dollars, or about 143 million euros.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement on Friday local time.

– This funding addresses the new and existing needs of internally displaced people in Lebanon, refugees who have arrived in Lebanon, and the communities that help them. The grants also support people fleeing to neighboring Syria, Foreign Minister Blinken says in his statement.

The emergency package includes, among other things, food, shelter, blankets, hygiene items and water.

Israel’s attack on Lebanon has forced an estimated more than a million people to flee their homes. There were already at least one million Syrian refugees in the country.

The UN refugee agency UNHCR said on Monday that a hundred thousand Lebanese and Syrians had fled from Lebanon to Syria.

The US government has said it supports Israel’s military operation in Lebanon. However, the United States has said it is concerned about the humanitarian impact of the operation.
