The streamer sarahtoninx9 has only been streaming for a few months Twitchbut has already achieved a lot during this time. Now she has quit her job live on stream. MeinMMO editor Lydia spoke to the streamer.
Who is the streamer? Sarah has been streaming regularly on Twitch as “sarahtoninx9” since mid-June 2024. There she shows games like League of Legends and Valorant or chats with her viewers in Just Chatting – on average there are around 200, often 400, at peak times 900 people tune in at the same time (via SullyGnome).
With her humorous nature, the self-proclaimed “Yapper” was able to quickly win fans, but she was also offensive. For example, there was a stir when she gave away cans of supposed bath water at gamescom 2024.
After that, everything happened very quickly: Sarah became a Twitch partner and got a job at the influencer agency INSIGHT, where two of the biggest German streamers, Reved and HoneyPuu, are also under contract.
In September, thanks in large part to a subathon, she was able to double her followers again and now has over 10,000. This success in a short time enabled the streamer to give up her part-time job – and she did so in style live on Twitch.
Cancellation in front of hundreds of viewers on Twitch
What kind of situation was that? Sarah, who was in a marathon stream on Twitch from September 11th to October 3rd, 2024, decided last week to quit her part-time job, which she had been doing alongside her studies and Twitch.
She revealed to her viewers that she had never really quit before. She seemed a little excited: it’s all happening so quickly, it doesn’t feel real at all.

Even after a few days, Sarah still stands behind her decision, as she told me in the conversation. The fact that the cancellation could be seen live in the stream apparently just happened like that: thanks to her subathon, the streamer was currently live almost around the clock anyway.
In addition, she has never quit, the streamer continued, and the Twitch chat would be “backseat full-time” anyway.
Focus on Twitch, the state exam can wait
When asked what she wanted to do next with her law studies, Sarah explained to me that she had already completed her exams. She wants to take the state exam at some point, otherwise that would be a shame for all the time and work she put into her studies.
But not now, now the focus is fully on content creation: So not just Twitch, but also X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, as the streamer reveals. “State exams are a problem for future Sarah.”
In any case, everything is happening so quickly that she doesn’t have the time to reflect on it in any way, Sarah tells me. “I’m trying to stay cool, but it’s all so crazy, I feel so blessed.”
Anyone who wants to emulate the streamer should think carefully about this: Twitch is only partially suitable as a part-time job; it is simply too uncertain a source of income for that. “I was just extremely lucky,” explains Sarah. Now she can (hopefully) live her dream.
However, the streamer also knows that luck alone is not enough; there is also a lot of planning behind success, which may not always be obvious to outsiders. Everything from the choice of topics to the way she speaks in her short videos is carefully thought out (via TikTok).
Sarah reached another milestone in her young career on September 26th. She was featured in Satter Hugo’s “unofficial Best of Twitch” on YouTube.
Such viral moments, whether in clip compilations on YouTube or as a standalone video on TikTok, can suddenly increase reach and launch careers. You can find out more about this here on MeinMMO: Twitch streamer celebrates 9 viewers with his mum – loving clip makes his channel explode
