Football: Hanna Marklund on Rosengård’s record season: “Maximum output”

SVT expert Hanna Marklund was celebrating gold at Malmö IP where the 14th gold was secured after 2-1 against Kristianstad, where it was created down in the final minutes after Kristianstad’s reduction. A draw had meant that the champagne had to be refrigerated.

– They got the most out of the players with coach Joel Kjetselberg, they had good new signings, Momoki Tanikawa has been important in many stages, had more players compared to last season when Caroline Seger was injured. You have been good in set-piece situations and scoring goals and have still been very good defensively, says Marklund.

It has been a remarkable change of the team and even we ourselves cannot put our finger on what really happened during this record season where 22 straight wins from the start is a record.

Chasing Umeå’s record with 24 straight victories

– I don’t think you can describe it, you have to experience it, everyone has worked from the leadership team and we players have worked well every single day and it has paid off, says the German Rebecca Knaak, the defender who became the match winner after two complete hits today.

Now they are chasing Umeå FC’s record of 24 straight games won over two seasons. Sports director Therese Sjögran lit a large cigar and puffed on the pitch.

– Basically, it’s a very good team that didn’t find their way last season. We have done a tremendous job together, the girls have taken it one day at a time and contributed so much every day. The pressure from the outside with threats and attention that we were on the way to a record after starting to win games has made them stronger and stronger. They have shown morale and a huge thirst for revenge, says coach Joel Kjetselberg.
