WhatsApp adds new options to its statuses to make them more attractive and interactive. You can now leave likes and make private mentions, like on Facebook and Instagram.
Meta continues to improve its WhatsApp instant messaging by regularly adding new functions. This time, it is to the status side that the attention of Mark Mark Zuckerberg’s company is turning. As a reminder, this is a function that allows you to share photos, videos, GIFs, voice messages, links or text with your WhatsApp contacts for 24 hours, after which the content disappears, a bit like Instagram stories or Snapchat snaps. Obviously, like conversations, the status, accessible via the tab of the same name, is protected by end-to-end encryption.
Meta is determined to make the option more popular with its users. For this, the firm decided to make it more attractive thanks to some improvements, so that everyone can “spread love” And “reach the people who matter most” with WhatsApp statuses. So, as she announces in his blog postit deploys two new functions that have already proven themselves on Facebook and Instagram: Likes and private mentions.
WhatsApp statuses: two new interaction options
It is now possible to send a “Like” on a WhatsApp status, like what Instagram offers for its stories. Simply click on the green heart for the person to be notified in the list of those who have seen their status. Note that the “Like” is not visible to other users.
Private mentions, on the other hand, allow you to discreetly mention another user, like on Facebook and Instagram. The person concerned will then be informed privately without the mention appearing in the status, and they will be able to share it easily.
These features are currently rolling out and will soon be available globally. Meta has already announced that, over the coming months, WhatsApp will be entitled to new functions for the Status tab and the News tab.
