Google Pixel 9a: the “low cost” smartphone would arrive sooner than expected

Google Pixel 9a the low cost smartphone would arrive sooner

Generally expected around May, the affordable version of Google’s latest smartphone could well be released earlier. The Google Pixel 9a would already have an early release date.

Google seems to be in a hurry to release new phones. While the latest Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold were released two months ahead of the usual schedule, it is rumored that the firm’s next device would also be planned a little ahead of schedule.

According to the Android Headlines site, the Google Pixel 9a is already well advanced in its design. Generally expected in May/June, the “a” versions of Google’s phones are more affordable than the main range. The Google Pixel 9a would be no exception and would even have a revised and new design as demonstrated by OnLeaks on X (formerly Twitter) who was able to get their hands on first designs of the Pixel 9a.

We therefore observe a camera module very different from those that can be found on the Pixel 9. Although we do not yet have official information on the Google Pixel 9a, it would not be surprising if the latter does not have not the same sensors found on the main Pixel 9 series. This would allow Google to reduce production costs and offer its Pixel 9a at a more affordable price.

Still according to Android Headlines, the Google Pixel 9a would therefore benefit from an brought forward release date to March. This could put it in competition with Xiaomi’s next Redmi Note 14 planned for the same period.
