The Women’s Basketball League season started in Kotka with the victory of champion favorite Peli-Karhuje.
Peli-Karhut, the silver team of last season’s Women’s Basketball League, defeated Tampere Pyrinnö in the opening match of the series with 75–60 points.
Peli-Karhut, entering the season as a strong preliminary favorite, took the driver’s place right at the start of the match. At halftime, the home team led by 15 points, and at the beginning of the final quarter, the difference was already almost 30 points.
In the last period, Pyrintö set the tone for the end, but the Kotka team succeeded on a wide front and secured their opening victory.
Game Bears Roosa Kosonen had a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. US confirmation Jade Williams accompanied with 15 points and four rebounds.
The aspiration Saana Kujala and Kayla Shaw recorded 16 points each.
