    People suffering from diabetes must regulate their sugar intake. Fruits, naturally rich in fructose, are therefore foods to consume sparingly. Some should even be avoided by diabetics. Which ones? Here is the list.

    Fruits are an integral part of a balanced diet. However, for people suffering from diabetes, their consumption must be reasonable and certain fruits, which are too sweet, should be avoided. Here are the ones.

    Pineapple

    Although pineapple is rich in vitamin C and fiber, it also contains a lot of sugar. In fact, a cup of pineapple contains around 16 grams of sugar, and its high glycemic index can lead to an increase in blood sugar after consumption. A fruit to avoid, therefore, for people with diabetes.

    Watermelon

    Star fruit of summer, watermelon is rich in water. But what is less known is that it also has a high glycemic index, and eating it can cause blood sugar spikes in people with diabetes.

    The banana

    Easy to transport, bananas can be eaten as a snack, for example. However, it is not the best fruit for a person affected by diabetes. In fact, a medium-sized banana has 14 grams of sugar, a significant level that can affect blood sugar levels.

    Mango

    Mango is an excellent fruit for health and has a low glycemic index, at 51. However, they should not (or rarely) be consumed by diabetics. In fact, a cup of mango has 23 grams of sugar. A high content which should encourage you to consume this fruit very occasionally.

    Dried fruits

    Figs, dates, grapes or dried apricots… As their name suggests, dried fruits have lost their water content. Result: the sugar they contain is very concentrated. For example, 50 grams of dates will contain 25 grams of sugar. Although they are rich in fiber, dried fruits remain unsuitable in the diet of a diabetic person.

    Cherries

    Delicious to eat in summer, cherries are a fruit appreciated by the French. People with diabetes will unfortunately have to deprive themselves of it or consume it occasionally. In fact, a cup of cherries has 20 grams of sugar. A high content which can cause a spike in blood sugar after consumption.

    Lychee

    Lychee, finally, is also a fruit rich in sugar. A 100-gram serving of lychee has 15 grams of sugar, which can impact blood sugar levels. They also have a glycemic index of 79, therefore high, which can also upset the glycemic balance of a diabetic person.
