Aston Villa celebrated their first home win at Europe’s highest level in 41 years by toppling Champions League success club Bayern.
Fifth in the Premier League, Aston Villa beat Bayern Munich 1–0 (0–0) in the second round of the Champions League. Super shifter John Duran completed the solution in the 79th minute. The goal was the Colombian’s fifth of the season, which he scored after entering the field in the middle of the match.
Aston Villa repeated the trick it did at Villa Park 42 years ago in 1982, i.e. beat Bayern 1-0 in the European Cup final. Prince William was one of the 40,000 spectators of the English club.
Reigning champions, 15-time Champions League winners Real Madrid suffered their first defeat in the UCL since 2023 in May when opener Lille shocked the Spanish giants 1-0 on Wednesday. Eduardo Camavingan a hand foul at the end of the opening half caused a penalty kick, which he shot into the net Jonathan David.
Liverpool, who won their second victory, handled Bologna 2-0 with a routine. They were responsible for perfect hits Alexis McAllister and Mohamed Salahwho became the African who scored the most goals in the Champions League with his hit – over Didier Drogba.
Francisco Conceicao a dazzling solo goal in the 82nd minute lifted Juventus to a 3-2 away win over RB Leipzig, having played for less than half an hour. Benjamin Sesko equaled the hit of the German club, Juventus also scored two goals Dusan Vlahovic.
Benfica crushed Atletico Madrid 4-0 in Lisbon. Diego Simeone the shields were in a bad way in terms of gameplay. Atletico have won just one of their last ten away matches in the Champions League.
Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb lost their two-goal lead at home as Monaco rose Mohammed Salisun and Denis Zakarian with a penalty goal in the last minutes to 2–2. Monaco had surprised Barcelona in the opening round. Dinamo, on the other hand, suffered a humiliating 2-9 loss to Bayern Munich a couple of weeks ago.
