Manchester Uniteds skipper didnt get banned head coach relieved

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes avoided a ban. The club’s complaint about the midfield star’s ejection went through.

Bruno Fernandes received a straight red card last weekend when Manchester United lost 0-3 at home. Fernades slipped and then kicked Tottenham inside out as well of James Maddison.

A straight red card would have resulted in a three-game ban, but ManU’s appeal went through.

– Never a red card – that’s my view. I agree that it was a foul, Fernandes stated after the match on the BBC.

The referee had said that Fernandes kicked Maddison ahead of the buttons. Fernandes didn’t think that happened, instead he hit Maddison with his ankle.

– If he wants to give me a yellow because Tottenham would have been able to counterattack, I agree.

ManU head coach Erik ten Hag was both relieved and frustrated by the information. Could United have come from 0-1 down and turned the game around if Fernandes had stayed on the pitch? Of course, the Dutch pilot is satisfied that the skipper will not be sidelined for the next matches.

The case is another setback for England’s criticized umbrella organization of referees, PGMOL. Why did the referee’s decision stand and VAR did not intervene?

Ten Hag continues at United with hot coals. Former Blackburn striker Benny McCarthy worked at ManU as the Dutchman’s assistant before leaving to create his own career as a head coach.

– I believe that in modern football the players want to see more passion in their coach. They need to feel that the coach is with them and ready to fight alongside them. I feel that tactically Erik is on top. He lacks a bit of that fire, that passion. That’s where we part ways, he and I, McCarthy chatted.
