Vendee Globe 2024 date departure route participants All the information

The famous world tour returns in 2024, discover the latest information before the start of the race.

The Vendée Globe is the largest sailing race in the world. Without assistance, alone, this race is a real marathon for sailors who spend several years preparing for this event with IMOCAs, 18 meter long monohulls. In 2024, will the record be broken? As a reminder, the record is held by Armel Le Cléac’h, who completed the race in 74 days 3 hours 35 minutes and 46 seconds in 2017. A record which had been established due to the “mild” conditions, notably until Cape of the Equator.

The big start of the Vendée Globe

The start of the Vendée Globe is scheduled for November 10, 2024 in Sables d’Olonne on a sailing trip around the world, solo, non-stop and without assistance.

What are the dates of the Vendée Globe?

The round-the-world sailing trip will depart on Sunday, November 10, 2024, with an arrival scheduled between two and three months later, the record being 74 days, set in 2016.

The Vendée Globe route

In total, 45,000 kilometers are on the program with 24,300 nautical miles of theoretical distance passing through three capes: Bonne Espérance, Leeuwin and Horn, all, non-stop and without assistance.
