At least 166 people have been killed in connection with Hurricane Helene’s progress in the United States. Many residents in the states of North Carolina and South Carolina are still without running water, cell phone service and electricity.

The search for the missing continues as the floodwaters recede and more destruction unfolds. During Tuesday, cadaver dogs and search crews searched for more victims in knee-deep mud and rubble in the mountains of western North Carolina.

– We must quickly get started with this recovery process, says President Joe Biden, who estimates that it will cost several billion dollars.

– People are terrified. This is urgent.

On Wednesday, he will travel to both states to witness the devastation, while Vice President Kamala Harris will visit neighboring Georgia.

Hurricane Helene is one of the deadliest storms in the United States in modern times.
