30 percent of diabetic patients have a hidden heart attack! Critical age is 40

Hospital Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist Prof. points out that heart attack is one of the most fatal diseases among cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Bilgin Emrecan warned citizens against heart attack. Prof. Dr. Emrecan said, “30 percent of diabetic patients have a hidden heart attack. The most feared and common cardiovascular disease is a heart attack. A heart attack is pain in the middle of the chest, palpitations, shortness of breath, and sudden loss of consciousness. Especially in young people, it causes stomach pain and nausea.” “And it looks sour,” he said.

BEWARE OF THESE SYMPTOMS

Prof. warns that one of the most important symptoms of a heart attack is pain. Dr. Emrecan said, “Pain related to the vessels of the heart is more specific and this pain has a certain character. If the heart vessel is not 100 percent blocked, the patient feels pain while moving. The oxygen need of the heart increases and this type of pain occurs. The pain is in the middle of the chest. On the right or If this pain is in the form of burning, it spreads towards the jaw and the left arm, towards the left shoulder. In other words, if the pain is related to effort, that is, the pain of a vein that is not 100 percent blocked, the pain disappears after 3 to 5 minutes. The patient is relieved with sublingual medication. But in its more advanced form, the pain is in the middle of the chest and radiates to the left arm, left shoulder and lower jaw.

THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF DEATH

It is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The pain lasts longer than half an hour. The pain also covers the back area. Such pain is typical heart attack pain. Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death both in our country and around the world. Every year, nearly 19 million people in the world die from cardiovascular diseases. Pointing out that heart attacks occur without any pain in 30 percent of diabetic patients. Dr. Emrecan said, “(Silent heart attack) can manifest itself as what we call ‘hidden heart attack’. We need to pay attention especially to these patients.” he said.

WAYS TO PREVENT HEART ATTACK

Drawing attention to the risk factors in heart attack, Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Bilgin Emrecan said, “Smoking is one of the leading risk factors. It is especially important to move, because inactivity causes metabolic syndrome, which leads to cardiovascular diseases along with weight gain. Again, we need to get diabetes under control. Hypertension paves the way for cardiovascular diseases. In particular, we should not consume ready-made, processed, additive-containing foods and sugary foods. Even if there are genetic factors, when we eliminate modifiable risk factors, we can reduce cardiovascular diseases by up to 50 percent. This also applies to men, women, the elderly and young people. Moving more, eating less and treating risk factors are ways to overcome cardiovascular diseases. “I recommend that they do light sports and walk, although not particularly heavy sports,” he said.

CRITICAL AGE 40

Underlining that those whose parents had a heart attack under the age of 50 are at risk, Prof. Dr. Emrecan made the following warnings:
“If the person has these risk factors, it is very important to reduce other risks. If he is a smoker, he should quit smoking. If he has high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol, these should definitely be taken under control. These people should definitely get checked in their 40s. Cardiovascular patients should eat fruits and vegetables as much as possible. “They should have a healthy diet and stay away from fatty foods.” (IHA)
