Free is launching its new Free Family offer, which includes a Freebox subscription and up to 4 5G mobile lines at discounted prices. A way to encourage subscribers to consolidate all their mobile plans and subscribe to new ones.
The battle rages between the operators! After the launch of SFR Multi at the end of August and several 5G packages for less than 10 euros, it’s Free’s turn to step up the pace and throw all its might into the battle. The ISP is enjoying good momentum, as evidenced by its impressive gain in subscribers at the start of 2024. Recently, it decided to spoil its customers by allowing them to send SMS via Wi-Fi, 4G and via mobile data at no extra cost. (see our article) and by providing them with an application to follow Ligue 1 in real time.
This time, it is determined to shake up the telecoms market again with its new Free Family offer. A formula that promises great savings for the family, while guaranteeing unlimited access to 5G. A way to encourage households to group their subscriptions with a single operator.
Free Family: a box and mobile offer with unlimited Internet
All Freebox subscribers, new and existing, can now subscribe to up to four Free 5G plans at €9.99 per month with unlimited data, a reduction of €10 per plan. However, this offer ends after one year and the packages switch to the other discount with packages at €15.99 per month instead of €19.99 per month. Freebox Pop subscribers retain their historic advantage of a first Free 5G Package at €9.99 per month with no duration conditions.
The savings made therefore promise to be considerable. In fact, a family equipped with a Freebox and four Free 5G packages can save up to €480 in the first year (going from €959.52 to €479.52, then €192 each following year.
As a reminder, the Free 5G package allows you to enjoy unlimited 5G and 4G Internet in France and 35 GB abroad in more than 110 destinations, but also to access the OQEE by Free TV application to access to hundreds of live and replay channels, and to the OQEE Ciné streaming service. In short, a rather complete package. It is usually offered at €19.99 per month, or €9.99 per month for Freebox Pop subscribers, which leads Free to affirm that its box + mobile offer with unlimited Internet is the cheapest on the market.
But you still need unlimited Internet because, today, we find cheaper packages while offering a completely sufficient number of data, without the obligation to have a box or such a significant increase after a year.
Free Family: how to benefit from it?
To take advantage of Free Family, simply go to the store, on the Free.fr website or on the Free application. If you are already a Freebox subscriber, simply subscribe to a Free 5G Package by entering your Freebox identifiers. You can also link your Freebox offer to your Free mobile account subsequently from your Mobile Subscriber Area, in “My Free Family benefits”. You can subscribe to other Free 5G Plans from your Mobile Subscriber Area, in “My secondary lines” or with a Free advisor.
If you are a new subscriber, you must first subscribe to the Freebox offer of your choice before adding a Free 5G Package by entering your Freebox identifiers. You will also need to link your Freebox offer to your Free mobile account subsequently on the Mobile Subscriber Area.
Please note, there are some limitations however. Indeed, the offer is only open to new Freebox subscribers (Revolution, Pop, Ultra Essentiel and Ultra) and to existing customers, provided that they subscribe to a Free 5G Package from 1er October 2024. Customers who canceled their Free subscription less than 30 days ago will not be able to subscribe to the Free Family offer again.
If it is not advantageous in all cases – there are several cheaper mobile plans among the competition, with unlimited telephony for less than 10 euros per month with a good volume of dates – this new Free offer has above all the merit of standardizing and simplifying the operator’s mixed formulas. Indeed, depending on the Freebox chosen, Free subscribers were not entitled to the same reductions on mobile telephony. In addition, the overall savings are especially noticeable in the first year. After the first 12 weeks, it will be wise to redo calculations and comparisons to see if there is anything better elsewhere.
