Ten years ago, one pair of shoes turned heads. After being relegated to the back of the closet, it is now making a comeback and is even appearing on the catwalks. Zoom in on this new must-have, unexpected to say the least.

In the 2010s, these shoes had it all. Chic and comfortable, they ticked all the boxes. Some celebrities, like Rihanna or Alessandra Ambrosio, wore them proudly, giving this trend an almost mythical status. On the brand side, a series of designers have been able to capture the spirit of the times and offer shoes that are both daring and relaxed. Moreover, in 2011, a French label marked a turning point with the release of its model “Bekett.” A piece which quickly invaded the streets and fashion magazines, only to finally run out of steam and resurface this year. You guessed it, this brand is none other than Isabel Marant.

Put aside in favor of other more minimalist styles, these shoes are now finding pride of place. The biggest houses are revisiting them, giving them a touch of modernity. Isabel Marant is once again leading this resurgence, this time in collaboration with the Converse label, for a pair called the “Chuck 70 Wedge”. Other brands, such as Ottolinger, are also following the movement, as evidenced by its spring-summer 2024 show at Paris Fashion Week. These shoes paraded with confidence on the catwalks, asserting their comeback. Unlike the wave of the 2000s, these shoes now feature a multitude of colors as well as even more original materials. In short, everything has been thought of so that wedge sneakers, with hidden heels, appeal to a new generation.
