Officers were called to the East and Wellington streets about 2 pm after receiving several 911 calls about an incident with a weapon, police said.

Two men clashed over an accusation that jewelry and a gold bar had been stolen, police said. One man was injured by several shots from a pellet gun.

A suspect reportedly had been seen with a second handgun, police said, but it wasn’t known if the second weapon was a real gun or another pellet gun.

The suspect fled after fighting with other occupants of an apartment building who got one of the guns away from him, police said.

The Glock-style pellet gun can appear real without a close inspection, police said.

Police asked the public to avoid the area in a Sunday afternoon social media post.

The emergency response and dog teams tried to track the suspect through the Kathleen Avenue and Wellington Street areas, police said, finding only discarded evidence.
